Villages

Castell-estaó

Etymologically speaking, the name of the village means “rest stop”. Saint Peter’s church was transferred from the hill located in the north of the village. The place is still known as “the Rocks of old Saint Peter”.

This is the starting point of the adventure activities through the Roi canyon. Nearby, you can still find some remains of the ancient uranium mines and see the muticoloured seams of the mineral that have remained uncovered. To do so, just take the path that goes uphill from La Plana de Mont-ros to Castell and then allows you to go on to Obeix or Antist.
